Unbeaten run ends at a the wrong time

Chelsea 3 - 1 Manchester United (FT)

Nothing gold can stay - Robert Frost. Many fans would agree that this unbeaten run was golden and brought us pride. But this is football, it would end sooner or later, and unfortunately, it was sooner. Yes, we lost the game but not all isn't lost. A top 4 finish is way more important financially as well as for the players and fans. We will be able to lure big-name players for next season and you can console yourself with that. Leicester City has lost 3-0 to Tottenham and our chances of qualification are massive. All we have to do is win one game and draw the other.

Chelsea was strong and solid throughout the match, not making any mistakes and carefully nullifying our major threats in Bruno Fernandes. After all, the likes of Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood were given some rest on the bench. But even for their strength, Chelsea needed the help of David de Gea to score. The first goal came deep into injury time of the first half after Eric Bailly suffered a head-on collision and had to be taken off on a stretcher. A fast cross was swung into the box for Giroud to header. Fortunately, the header was right at De Gea. Unfortunately, he fumbled the ball and let it roll into the goal, watching helplessly.

The misery started to pile on right from the start of the second half. Mason Mount took a shot from distance after Brandon Williams misplaced pass was placed right in front of him. It should have been a routine save but De Gea let the ball slip under his arm while trying to stop the ball. United fans were all too familiar with this feeling of anger at the shot-stopper and many questioned Ole's decision to replace Sergio Romero, a regular in cup games.
