First professional match in almost 100 days

Tottenham Hotspurs 1 - 1 Manchester United

A highly anticipated match was looming as fans on either side hadn't seen their side play for almost 100 days. The excitement was intensified as both team were aiming for a top 4 spot and a loss could knock either side out of the race. But first, there was a moment's silence to pay tribute to coronavirus victims as well as George Floyd. They additionally donned shirts with "Black Lives Matter" in print on the back instead of their names.

The match started off tough for Machester United. Jose's Tottenham was played back only trying to play on the counter leaving United with the majority of possession. Clever... as we all know that the Reds are a way more potent threat on the counter-attack and struggle to break down teams. It was Rashford who got the first chance of the game after a deflection from Spurs defender, Davinson Sánchez put the ball at his feet but Rashford could only fire it at the legs of Hugo Lloris. But it only got worse for United after Steven Bergwijn received the ball in midfield. He then managed to bypass the whole defense in a storm and fire a shot right at David de Gea who should have kept it out but mishandled it to deflect it into the back of this own net. Goal Spurs (27').

A quick counter led by Spurs moments later ended with De Gea redeeming himself by tipping Son's power header over the bar. Forgiven? Spurs then reckoned a 1 goal lead should be enough to get them through the game and sat back only leading the occasional counter as they watched the Reds struggle to create good opportunities. United only came alive after the introduction of Mason Greenwood for Dan James and Paul Pogba for Fred.

Martial's other chance! A quick block
ensured that no save was needed.

Almost immediately Martial found himself with the ball in the box... he turned and directed the ball into the top left... only for Hugo Lloris to come up with an exceptional save of his own.

With 10 minuted to go Paul Pogba moved higher up the field to receive the ball, he took on Eric Dier one-on-one at the edge of the box. Pogba put up some magic working his way past Dier to force a foul and earn a penalty. Bruno stepped up and slotted away the penalty cooly. Goal Manchester United (81')

With that Spurs took a more offensive approach knowing that losing 2 points would cost them more than it would for United. United had a few close chances towards the end with Mason Greenwood striking just wide at the end of injury time but the game ended in a stalemate as neither side could produce the winner. Although fans on either side were hoping for 3 points most felt it was a point earned rather than two dropped with a game that could go either way.

But Roy Keane certainly didn't feel that way, making some brutally honest jibes against the United defense, saying he was "sick to death by this goalkeeper(David de Gea)" and that David de Gea and Harry Maguire should "get a taxi back to Manchester" and not be allowed to board the team bus for their shameful display. Ole defended his player, sparing De Gea once again!

Sheffield United are up next for Man Utd and this one is going to be a vital game in the race for the top four as Sheffield United sit just one place below the Red Devils. But to be fair all games left are going to be crucial. Mistakes like today could be the key difference between missing out on a Champions League spot for next season! Every game will have to be played by giving everything the players have got if they want Champions League football next season!
