United ease past LASK to set up a quarter final in Germany

Manchester United 2 - 1 LASK (FT)

Manchester United entered the second leg of the Round of 16 with a 5-0 lead. With the quality of the opposition, there was little hope for a comeback and Manchester United was completing a mere formality. Ole was allowed to give fringe like Juan Mata and Odion Ighalo players an opportunity to prove themselves.

The first half was relatively quiet. Both teams were lacking the final ball. Manchester United fielded a squad which had little game time in the past few months and had low chemistry so it was acceptable. LASK lacked the quality of the players their opposition had. The only respectable chance went to LASK. A header which struck off the bar after chaos in the box.

The second half was more eventful. LASK finally got the opener they deserved after trying hard while United had no shots on target. But United responded well. LASK's lead only lasted 3 minutes before Jesse Lingard equalised out of nowhere. United completed the comeback with just a few minutes to go. This time it was the substitute, Anthony Martial. This puts him up to 23 goals this season making it his best ever so far. Hopefully loads more goals to come in the future!

Anthony Martial scores the winner
