Manchester United have completed the signing of Donny Van de Beek from Ajax for a reported fee of around £40 million beating off interest from the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The midfielder primarily plays an attacking game, a combination of the way Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba play. Therefore he is incredibly versatile as he can play across all midfield positions if the need arises.
Therefore, some are baffled that United have signed an expensive yet talented player in a position which is already occupied by either Bruno Fernandes or Paul Pogba, but they don't seem to understand the need for squad depth. Manchester City and Liverpool have both had good players sitting on the bench in their title winning seasons so they could come on with energy and change the game. Van de Beek will help do that, he is a massive upgrade to the likes of bringing on Jesse Lingard and Andreas Periera. Moreover, Bruno and Pogba can't play every single game this season, they will need rest and Van de Beek will get plenty of game time. In the worst case scenario, we could see our two main talismans could get injured. It is important that we have quality of Donny Van de Beek to replace them. Jesse Lingard would have been poor while Donny has already proved himself in the big games.
A quality player who will also encourage Bruno and Pogba to work harder in training as they could be in danger of losing their place in the starting line up to our new Red Devil.
