Dull draw played out vs Chelsea

 Manchester United 0 - 0 Chelsea

Manchester United's search for a home win this season continues in stark comparison to their solid away run winning all 5 of their away games. The match was a relatively uneventful affair, a blogger's nightmare. But you may enjoy the highlights of the encounter...

Both teams started out cautiously, neither attacking without an eye on defence as both sides knew conceding the first goal would be fatal as it would allow the opposition to sit back and counter-attack, which both sides specialised in.

In the end, both sides should be happy with a draw although there were moments which could have tilted the game. One of them was Harry Maguire's headlock on Chelsea defender César Azpilicueta, in the Manchester United penalty box! A definite penalty but it was overlooked by the officials and the players in the heat of the moment.

Apart from that incident, it was Manchester United who enjoyed the better chances with Marcus Rashford coming close on 2 occasions to scoring. One was in the first half, after being unleashed 1-1 versus the keeper, but Rashford could only hit the goalie's leg rather than direct it past him. His last chance came right at the death, curling an effort into the top right corner only to be denied fantastically by the goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, who was signed this summer to replace error-prone Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The match whistle blew shortly after and both sides went out with a point apiece. The result leaves Manchester United in 15th place with 7 points albeit a game in hand.
