Astana 2 -1 Manchester United (FT)
Manchester United fielded a very young line-up consisting of four debutants with 9 players under the age of 21. It was a similar case on the bench and three youngsters were given their first-taste of professional football including the highly-rated Largie Ramazani. Fustratingly, they came out on the wrong end and conceded their first goals in the competition.

Manchester United had a decent first-half in which Jesse Lingard finally got his first-goal in 28 matches. But unfortunately Astana equalised shortly before Bernard, un-fortunately ,put the ball back into his own net. The score line could have been very different though with Chong missing an open goal from 2 yards out!
