United score 5 while rinsing Bournemouth

Manchester United 5 - 2 Bournemouth (FT)

It was a great, overall display from Manchester United but some areas will need addressing, especially the poor defending. Against stronger sides, it will be a costly mistake to make.

Stanlasis scores from a tight angle

The game started off poorly for the hosts. Bournemouth was intent on making it a hard fight for United.
They opened the scoring soon. 16th minute, Junior Stanislas with the ball on the byline near the united goal, nutmegs Harry Maguire and squeezes the ball past David de Gea. Embarrassing defending indeed. An £80 million defender shouldn't have allowed that. And De Gea really shouldn't have allowed the ball to go in, especially from that angle.

Thankfully, Bournemoth's lead didn't last long. First, it was Mason Greenwood who equalised when he fired it right at the goalkeeper who was powerless to keep it out. Just six minutes later a Bournemouth defender accidentally brushed his hand against the ball a few yards away from goal. It gave Rashford to score his first goal since the restart. Albeit coming from the penalty spot he broke the 20 goal barrier this season.  And just before half-time, Anthony Martial made it 3-1. A beautiful curler into the top right from the left flank at the edge of the box. All of them prove why they didn't regret giving away Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

The match looked like it had been settled but there was plenty of more to come. Just four minutes after the break, Eric Bailly, who was bought on for Lindelöf, used his arm to stop the ball, after Matić made a poor aerial pass. Josh King made no mistake putting away the penalty.

It was a scare for the Red Devils but the team reacted well and put the game to bed. It was Greenwood again who stabilised the situation for the Reds. It brings him to 15 goals in all competitions this seasons. 5 minutes later Bruno got in on the act by firing in a superb free-kick to the near side of the goalkeeper-who got caught relaxing.

It rounded off a superb performance from United's frontmen but the defence might have a bit to worry about albeit good performance in recent times.
